Carrick Management is delighted to be shortlisted for the Living Wage Scotland Awards 2021.
We are extremely proud of our Living Wage accreditation and our commitment to paying all employees the Living Wage, both within our business and encouraged at every business we come into contact with.
To be shortlisted for an award in the Outstanding Leadership category out of over 2000 employers across the country is an honour. We are not just delighted for ourselves though, we are glad to be a finalist on behalf of the organisations we meet and who take on board our thoughts on being Living Wage employers and then sign up. Our own impact would be very minimal without the commitment from our colleague businesses so we thank each and every one of them.
With over 45,600 people in Scotland receiving a pay rise as part of working in accredited businesses the Living Wage is an essential tool to help end poverty in our country. It is a step toward fairness and really makes a difference.
Harry MacLean, Managing Director, Carrick Management said: “We have always backed the Living Wage campaign and been delighted to see it introduced in several companies we have worked with. It’s a step in the right direction but there is a long way to go to ensure fair pay for a day’s work. Working families should not be struggling to make ends meet and for me it’s a national disgrace that we still have to discuss this in 2021. We will continue to lobby businesses and the Scottish Government to rectify poor pay; it really benefits nobody in the long run.
We urge the Scottish Government to lead on this. After all, a basic MSP salary – based on 37.5 hours’ work – is 3.5 times the Living Wage and nearer 4 times the Minimum Wage. Nobody in Holyrood will be needing to visit a food bank any time soon.”
The Awards will take place in November and we look forward to celebrating the incredible impact of the Living Wage with Living Wage Scotland and fellow accredited employers.
